Inspired by Marina Abramović’s iconoclastic explorations of the body and its physical presences and vulnerabilities, I arranged, for my own experimental compositions, skeletal elements alongside my human subject. Using my friend as a model, I chose to isolate and foreground the skeletal hand to stress the intimate duality between bone and flesh, between the living body and its concealed, underlying and often euphemised structure.
